Re: PHP Updates
Wow - I just checked the hosting info I'm currently using and it's PHP version 7.4.19
I guess this is pretty old.

Re: PHP Updates
Well, as long its supported by PHP i would not worry to much. We are also using PHP 7.4 on the forum, but the version of phpBB we are using now does not support PHP 8+. As always, i am working on testing out the newest version of phpBB that does support PHP 8.0 so we can use that in the future on the website.
LMD make sure the version of WP you use and the plug-ins you use support PHP 8+ before upgrading to another version of PHP(but you probably already know that).

Re: PHP Updates
I won't be pushing for a PHP upgrade. I remember the earlier upgrades played havoc with some of the older client WP themes I was using.
This time around I'm pretty sure the hosting admins only push that, which is unsecure and poses a threat to their hosting environment(s). At the moment, I think the 7.x is Ok for use now.

Re: PHP Updates
Also put in mind that PHP 8 is one of the bigger PHP updates. I have seen a fair share of PHP scripts that works fine on PHP 7.4, but throws a lot of errors on PHP 8.
