The Trademarking of SEO

Post by Accrete »

Those who have been around the SEO industry for a while may remember that Jason Gambert tried to trademark SEO and Rhea Drysdale of Outspoken Media won her challenge of his application on March 11, 2010.

Barry Schwartz of Search Engine Roundtable posted today it's been 10 years since Ms. Rhea won her challenge.
Ten years ago, Rhea Drysdale, who I interviewed here, defended the SEO industry by stopping an individual from trademarking "SEO." I have stories on this from ten years ago on Search Engine Land named "Meet The 25-Year-Old Who Saved “SEO” From Being Trademarked" and here named "Why The SEO Industry Is Special."
Ten Years Ago, One Woman Stopped SEO From Being Trademarked

If you weren't around back then Barry has some links in the above referenced article you could read or if you were in the SEO industry back in 2008-10 you might like to read the posts also.

Do you remember all this going on if you were in the SEO industry back then?
Yours truly,
