Not to be bearer of bad news but in the interest of informing:

Those absolute latest numbers did lower the survival just a bit but I suspect as more cases are reported from countries with strong health care it will average back down.
It is something to be taken very seriously but at this time it is not a mass extinction event as the media would like it to be.

The more I hear from Anthony Fauci, the more I like him making the media bytes of late. That said, I honestly don't know much about him, and only know what I've heard and seen in the last couple of weeks, but from what I've heard and seen from him so far, he seems to be the one making a lot of sense with respect to the virus issues.

Curious as to how it is going in your part of the world.
Here in KY the last count I saw was 21 active cases with 1 death of 1 or 2 cured and released.

Its evolving constantly for us, as you can imagine. Our province population is about 13 million. Cases so far looks to be 177 confirmed cases with 5 "resolved".
We just heard from the local provincial government officials on tv, and and they've finally used the "emergency" word.

Those numbers don't sound too bad. Have they closed public gathering places like restaurants and bars?

Yes and no - any public gathering of potentially 50 or more persons, yes - closed, so churches, libraries, gyms, theatres, sit down restaurants and bars etc, are closed or closing. Restaurants can still be open for takeout - if they so desire, if they can scramble to make that type of service available.
Tim Hortons, for example, were set up for drive through sales forever, so they'll still be open for the meantime.
