Re: Passing the Time at Home

My pond is just outside the kitchen nook. No point in having one if you can't see it. :)

The great thaw finally came and I chipped up the foot of ice that prevented me from backing out of the garage. Freedom!

Re: World Health Organization declares coronavirus outbreak a 'pandemic'

Here I think it mostly volunteer injectors. Some employers may be paying them their regular wage while they donate the time. Under supervision do you have to be a nurse to inject? It does not seem it is all that complicated. The bad weather played havoc with the schedules but we seem to be back on t...

Re: Passing the Time at Home

I look at the fake tomatoes in the grocery and dream of real ones from the yard.

Lmd looks at snowballs and dreams of golf.

JH has spent too much time in a cool climate though I do agree the long, hot humid days are awful.

Accrete is probably happy as long as the cats are happy. :)

Re: Passing the Time at Home

Well, February is proving to be a fairly nasty month. Big snow overnight and into today. More snow Thursday, into Friday, and yet another storm brewing for Monday. Although, I don't know how they're predicting the snowfall next Monday. Spinning wheel? Rock, paper, scissors? :? The weather and new g...

Re: Passing the Time at Home

We have not been above freezing for over a week (very unusual). Add in a couple of ice storms and then a sleet storm last and it is about as bad as it gets around here. Not much hope for improvement until at least the weekend.

Re: Passing the Time at Home

I keep a small container of frozen water with a metal washer on top in both freezers. If i check and see the washer is not on top of the ice, and its in the middle or on the bottom of the container, there might have been a thaw due to potential operation or power outage issues, and then figure out ...

Re: Passing the Time at Home

26 years next month and while it could use a screen and finish the kitchen hardwood has held up fine. We are on our second disposal, stove, fridge and dishwasher and none of the deaths have affected the floor. An overflowing evaporator pan on a fridge is most likely to cause a problem but when that ...

Re: Passing the Time at Home

Some people should not have carpet in their family rooms and I am almost convinced we belong in that group. :) I did it with hesitation when the rest of the downstairs is hardwood. Now I am about ready to investigate hardwood or even vinyl planks. There is just too much traffic to keep a carpet look...

Re: Creative Cooking While in Self Isolation

We have a slow cooker but are not organized enough to take the meat out day/night before unless it's shopping day and purposely buy the meat for a slow cooker dish. This was all done stove top. But after searing the slow cooking might be done in a crockpot. Most times i do manage to defrost the mea...
