New variant to keep an eye on:
...A new Covid-19 strain that is much more dangerous than the Delta variant has been detected in more than 30 countries in the past four weeks, says the Health Ministry.

“The Lambda strain was reported to have originated from Peru, the country with the highest mortality rate in the world,” it said in a tweet on Monday (July 5).

The Health Ministry also linked to report by Australian news portal news.com.au saying the Lambda strain had been detected in the United Kingdom....

I'm hoping the Covid medial people are preparing late fall/early winter boosters. Travelling outside Canada this coming winter may be precarious.

That said, I don't know if the rich countries around the world have a deal or not, where, lets say, for every 10 doses they purchace, at least one dose goes towards immunizing the rest of the world in areas that do not have funds to purchase, or do not have access to the vaccine. That, and getting the anti-vaxxers on board. Are there any unpopulated islands they can decide to relocate to? Sorry if I've offended anyone.
Like you, I do think the developed countries owe the poor nations some assistance.

As for the anti-vaxers, you can't fix stupid.

Guess it's just a matter of sorting out how to get vaccines to the countries needing them...
...Canada will donate 17.7 million doses of the vaccine that it had already purchased through its direct contract with AstraZeneca, Procurement Minister Anita Anand announced at a joint press conference on Monday with International Development Minister Karina Gould. The donation is in addition to the 13 million doses Canada has already agreed to forgo through COVAX. The not-for profit program supplies vaccines primarily to lower-income countries...
