We will officially be in a provincial "shut down" as of 12:01am. Thanks Mr. Fug Dord.

We get a live update today. From the behaviour of people over the Easter weekend Dr. Henry might have no choice but to get firmer.

I'm not sure about your province, but here at least, it's apparent that the spreading problem won't get better for a while until the segment of essential workers that are affected by the spread, get vaccinated. Of course the outliers ignoring social gathering rules will also propagate the virus, but the a larger segment of essential workers who don't have paid sick leave, won't isolate at home without pay while recovering. So, they'll keep going to work, furthering the spread there, and as such, will ensure others will get the virus, and they'll bring the virus home to their families who will spread it further - on, and on, and on.
I understand the manufacturing plants and fulfillment plants (like Amazon) have to keep churning out product, but some of those plants/warehouses are also raging with Covid. In a nearby city, more than 600 Amazon workers were tested with having Covid. So, the government ordered thousands of those workers home to isolate for two weeks. Amazon was forced to say they'd pay those workers while isolating at home, but only after those workers have been spreading the virus like wild fire. So, if employers don't pay those essential workers to stay at home and isolate while infected, they'll just keep the Covid infections up, and we'll have to stay at home longer.

I saw the story about Amazon a few weeks ago and come to think of it, haven't seen their commercial promoting how careful they are lately.
Dr. Henry did say yesterday that the problem is gatherings and cohabiting situations are the cause of our up swing which in turn gets taken home and spread further.
Maybe the government should develop a sick day bank system like union jobs have so when you are sick you can draw from the bank although this situation is a lesson learned for those who have a sick bank and abuse it because they just don't feel like going to work today...

Well, the doctors and people in the industry keep talking about paid sick leave, but nothing has happened. I understand the potential abuse to this system, but what can we do? Infections and packed ICUs will just keep us all locked down, or shut down until everyone has at least had the first shot. That might not be complete till summer. Maybe into the fall before the second shots are all completed.
DW and myself have had one shot, and have no idea when we'll get the second. At least Shoppers Drug Mart do not know much on second shot schedules. All they're doing is putting needles in arms. There's no attempt to book the second appointments at this point. However, Metro pharmacy is vaccinating now, and they are actually booking the second shot, 4 months from now. I don't how they can do it but Shoppers can't.
I'm just going to forget all about Covid, variants, shots in arms etc, just for tomorrow - and go to the driving range.

Most recent data suggests that a third or even an annual booster will be required for the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
We all suspected that would happen, didn't we?

Re: World Health Organization declares coronavirus outbreak a 'pandemic'
I know I, for one, expected that boosters would be necessary.
Well, our grand Premier has begun walking back his crazy Covid-deterrent measures. On Monday morning, they began taking off the "keep out" tape on playground equipment so the kids can play outside. Even the media doctors (who actually see "real" patients and are in the OR regularly) are saying that tennis, golf and other outdoor physical activities should, without question, be allowed.
I honestly don't know who the provincial government is getting their advice from, but it certainly isn't coming from the true medial community. It's probably coming from the government's bureaucratic medical representatives who haven't seen an OR or actual patient in decades.

Things are certainly a mess right now.
Another variant in India that has 100s of thousands sick there.

JT has been under fire for allowing air travel to Canada, from India. Now that I think about it, JT's been under fire for just about everything he does.
