The wife raised an interesting question, one which I hope to live long enough to answer.

Assuming that hospitals do not get overrun, will the total deaths a year from now be more, less or the same for the various options?
Potential better treatment might also factor in.

Now this question also depends on how effective and when a vaccine is released.

I'm am not willing to test the theory by going out and acting normal. I did live through SARS and H1N1 without behavior modification. I was also a lot younger than.

edit:
I was watching the news last night and a video in a hair salon
Those are still open there?

I haven't had a pro haircut since early Jan.

I believe the salon video was something I was watching on CNN last night. So, I don't think it was filmed up here.

Re the death toll with some medication/treatment options, who knows. Spin the wheel or throw a dart at the dart board.

I'm tracking Georgia and KY as the two states are doing exactly the opposite. Need to wait about 7 more days to have any realistic data.

Our province announced our restart plan yesterday afternoon. 4 phases. We are already in phase 1. Mid May more things can reopen if they have an approved plan but stay home for Mother's Day this weekend. Still no large gatherings (bars, concerts, etc) in near future as a vaccine required to consider those.

Garden centers, some more curbside retail pickup, and hardware stores are now open to walkin traffic.

A lot of people, not just children can be carriers without getting sick. This may be a newer or more prevalent trend just surfacing.

This is why I have not gone out in public without a mask since March 12 nor do I intend to do so.

I do not plan to go out to a restaurant, a mall or any other indoor public area for the foreseeable future. I do venture out to the grocery store, pharmacy and very occasionally, to the bank, but that's it. I only go to those places because I have to. Grocery pickup areas are fine, but they don't include frozen products in the pickups, so I have to get some frozen stuff, so I might as well go inside to get everything. Costo will not deliver any perishable things too. The pharmacy may have a delivery service, but I think that service should be for those that are shut ins and can't get out.

That said, I still don't feel that good about going out to those places - even masked up, with hand sanitizer in pocket. I've come to terms with this being our way of life until there is a vaccine available, which, if you believe the news, is looking to be sometime in Q1 next year. DW asked about what we're going to do for our anniversary coming up, and then realized we can't do much, so a nice din (bbq or inside cooked), card and flowers will have to do this year. :)
