If they try to login 5 times and fail that IP is banned forever. If China did not such a large range of Ip#s I would block the whole D*** country.

I would ban them too, if I could. There's a pro upgrade to Country Block, a WordPress plugin, that i wish we all had. I'd ban every country except Canada and the US. For example, I'm not going to have any potential business with someone Kazakhstan, china, Pakistan india etc.

I am not to happy about blocking IP addresses, because somebody does something bad in a country, does not mean i am willing to risk blocking the good people from the same country. But if it is static IP addresses belonging to a hosting provider or something like that, there is little chance that you risk blogging some good people, so that might be acceptable if absolutely needed.

A business that does local work/services, doesn't really need world wide access.

An international business selling to the world, a tech forum (or any type of forum for that matter), an information hub, or anything similar, I would not block countries (in whole). Security for these types of sites would have to be top shelf.

I have a feeling WPW (and maybe V7 too) found it too cumbersome to keep going. Although I knew the former had to be taken down, I was in contact with that site's security support, and to a lesser degree, one of the owners, right to the end. They just stopped replying to my emails, so I gave up.

And in the case of those two sites that went down and stayed down, there was so much great information that was lost forever, it was really kind of sad.

I'm not blocking site pages. I am blocking SSH hack attempts. No one but me me need access to SSH on the server.

I am very comfortable with this site not blocking.

If it's something only you should access then blocking others is fine for me.
