Stating home can be a nice change of pace.

RE: the utilities is that because of oil prices and the stuff in Ukraine or just general inflation?

I don't know about LMD but here in the states we are fighting with the highest inflation rate in about 40 years. They just printed to much money and gave it away during covid.

Grocery prices are way up.

Gas prices have been, and still are very high - as high as $1.80 per litre, CAD. Thank god we don't need to travel much by car these days.

Utility bills are higher because we're working from home. I'm retired, but my two boys are not.

We haven't frequented restaurants much due to Covid, so I can't really comment on restaurant prices.

Speaking of groceries, a head of lettuce has cost close to $6.00 here.

Sorta proves that our governments lie about the inflation rate. On average and I am a shopper, groceries are up about 30% across the board. Meat more than that. Lettuce isn't quite that bad here but is at an all time high.

Restaurants are way out of whack. I hope they enjoy their $15 an hour employees when they don't have jobs. Frankly I am down to about 3 places I will go eat cause the rest are just charging way too muck. Lucky for me I can cook almost anything any of them serve that I would order.

It's because of the war in Ukraine no doubt, but while we pay in money, they pay in human life. So i'm not complaining, i just need to adjust some stuff then things will work out.

I also think the price increase is higher than the 10% i believe they said is the increase when shopping for groceries.

I agree that is a terrible situation. I wish there was some way this country could do more. But to confront a terminal person who has nothing to lose is risk an extinction level event. I honestly thought by now some of the saner people in Russia would have taken him out of power. Maybe the cancer or whatever he has will sooner rather than later.

So far Ukraine has fared far better than I expected them to do.

I don't think Putin has cancer, i think it was a publicity stunt, so he could say he was sick when he made the order to invade Ukraine, after the war showed not to go in the direction he wanted.

I am also impressed with the Ukrainian soldiers, they sure have showed courage.

You might be right. While I try to never wish ill will towards anyone I could make an exception in this case. If old men had to fight in the wars they start for young men to fight there would most likely be a lot less of them.

Totally agree about the soldiers and I am quite impressed with their president.

If the Ukrainian soldiers are half as aggressive of the Ukrainian play money poker players I play with online Russia has a real challenge ahead.

I agree, only issue, is we risk an even crazier Russian takes his place.

Me too, he even shows up at the frontline to encourage the Ukrainian soldiers. And in my opinion, he has very good judgement and shows himself as very good example to the Ukrainian people(including there soldiers).

Re: Passing the Time at Home

While in Florida back in February, most people there didn't wear masks. So, we got away from wearing them while down there too. When we got back home 4 weeks later, I pretty much stopped wearing masks while out and about.

As of right now, very few people here are wearing masks - maybe 1 in 20. I'm also slacking off about using hand sanitizer as well. However, when I was attending a recent Town Hall info centre meeting, I did feel a bit odd, being in a room with 50 or so angry people crammed in a room rated for about 30. :o

I was wearing a mask long after people over here had stooped wearing them, when i was buying groseries or other places where there was a decent amount of people. But i have also stopped wearing masks these days. If the place i visit has some sanitizer i will use it, but otherwise i don't. I do still make sure there is some distance between me and other people when i wait in line at shops.

Town Hall meeting sound official, they should probably had done something to make sure, that not so many people was at the place at the same time or maybe make it online so people can participate via there computer from there home.
