And, we look like we're going to get a stretch of dry weather going forward. Needed so the ground/plants etc can recover for the opposit reasons of west. Seems like the weather for the country has gone topsy-turvy this year!

Just got a "steal of a deal" for DW.
  • She can join the golf club for the rest of this current year, playing for free (no guest fees or dues fees.)
  • Free club storage for the remainder of the year.
  • As well, If she joins next year (and she will) they'll give us the "couple's" initiation fee as it was when I joined 4 years ago.

But that's not all...
  • They'll credit all of this year's "guest fees" we've paid so far, against the dues fee for next year.

Task for today/tomorrow: Convert biz office, into a home (not so biz-like) office. Then, golf at 5pm.

Good luck with that. Is it since you are retired, that you want to make it less biz. like?

Yes, I sold off what assets I had, and am now purging client files, biz stuff storage in cabinets and trying to condence maybe 200+ file folder slots into a space that would hold maybe 40 files. Big cabinets containing files and work-related "stuff" are being replace with smaller more home-like cabinets.

Biggest change for me in terms of computer setup, is having to remove my three monitors (which I loved) and replace them with one bigger monitor. :(

Well, if you have sold the computer displays then not much you can do, but if you like the 3-display setup, maybe you shouldn't have sold them. But of course, one big screen may be the right thing for the future you.

I have one 24" 1920x1080 display as my primary computer display, then i have a smart TV that i sometimes use as a secondary computer display. That setup works fine for me.

Haven't sold the monitors yet. I'm trying to remember - I think they were two 24's and a 19". Maybe two 21's - I can't remember. They're in the basement somewhere - with all the other stuff I'm supposed to sell. :o

The new monitor (actually it's about 18 months old) I picked up for the new desk is 32" - big enough for multiple apps to be open, and not really needing another monitor. I went with a white frame monitor, in keeping with the new furniture in this space. Although, it looks like the frame is changing, over time, to a more "cream" colour. Oh well. 8-)

Waiting for the irrigation people to show up and replace a solenoid battery that is supposed to open up and allow water to pass. It seems water was not flowing to the front yard yesterday, and our impatiens flowers (in pots) almost died. We're in the middle of a heatwave, with a "feels like" temp of around 38C in the afternoon and being in the backyard most of the time, I didn't notice the pots in the front (west facing) in distress. I got to them just in time! Today (or at least as long as it takes them to show up to fix this thing) I have to water them every 3-4 hours by hand to keep them alive.

I guess it's all about personal preferences. 32" would be a to big computer display for me. I don't like having to turn my head all the time to see what is going on on the entire screen.

I am glad that we are having some more decent temperatures over here, tomorrow is going to be a little hot, around 26C, but generally the weather here seems to be in the early twenties, which is fine for me :)

I certainly do miss my three monitors for sure, and the one big one does take getting used to, but I decided on it to try and make it look like a den, rather than a home biz office. It was either that, or set something up in the basement.
