WM Open in Scottsdale is happening this week. Deep blue skies, amazing green fairway's, green tee boxes and grass in the rough. If I recall correctly, the rough down there is normally "brown" this time of year as the longer grass is supposed to become dormant in their "winter". I use the term "winter" lightly, because Arizonians have no idea what winter actually is.

So, the courses normally save watering money, but because it's a PGA event, everything is "lush" green. I was down there last year at this time. It was wonderful. :(

Looks like most of North America is getting hit with the Polar Vortex. It was clear and sunny yesterday afternoon but windy here. Worse to come next week, although not as bad as the rest of you in North America.

Have to stick around today waiting for the phone company. Phone line dead.

Will be recording the SB (for the commercials ;) ), but will watch the WM Open. If it were anyone else leading, or co-leading, I'd probably still watch, but with Spieth as co-leader, I'm going to watch, and hope he can finish at the top. I know, they're all rich, with more money than I'll ever have, but what he's gone thru in the last 4 or 5 years or so, it'll be nice for him to win.

Ugh, I just looked up his net worth: $110 million. :o

Having firmly established during Covid that the messy house was not a lack of time I forced myself to start the clearing and cleaning. If the pandemic lasts another two years we may be in tip top shape. :)

DW is waiting for me to begin purging and cleaning the storage room in the basement. I think I'll have to call 1800 Got Junk or call for a Upak bin (or whatever they're called). It's the only way to make room in the storage area.

Then, it's wallpapering. Then painting. Then baseboards. Then cornice. Then redoing the bathrooms. Then ripping up carpet. Then...well, you get the picture - it's the never ending story.

Spoiler Alert!!

I didn't see Koepka sneaking up the leader board and winning the WM open. Weather looked spectacular. I shoulda been down there, but, then there's the Covid issue. Hmmmmm... :?:

Note: Big spike in Covid cases coming in two weeks due to SB parties, no doubt.

Worked on the piles of crap (some of it good crap) in the letter trays on my desk yesterday. One left with stuff from when we moved here like coupons for various service providers should we need them. i.e. who to look at to call

Some people should not have carpet in their family rooms and I am almost convinced we belong in that group. :)

I did it with hesitation when the rest of the downstairs is hardwood. Now I am about ready to investigate hardwood or even vinyl planks. There is just too much traffic to keep a carpet looking nice.

In our last place we replaced all carpet with hardwood. This new place has hardwood except in livingroom and spare room. Why people put hardwood in the kitchen is beyond me! Any of the appliances crap out and your floor is ruined...

We had tiles and carpet on the main floor - carpet in the various rooms, and tiles in hallways and kitchen. We replaced all that with hardwood about 6 or 7 years ago, and now the upstairs (builder carpet) is in it's final days. Stairs will be between $4-6k depending on the material. Upstairs (4 bedrooms, a media room area and hallways), I don't want to know how much it'll cost.

I wasn't for hardwood in the kitchen, but DW wanted it. Moving and replacing appliances isn't a problem, at least with the delivery/installers we've used. We've replaced all the appliances. The only issue is, the floor can take a beating, especially with young kids dropping pots pans and other things. I've dropped a pot or two also. ;) So ya, it's got some dents, but it's held up pretty good.
