Just saw a Environment Canada warning we are in for some heavy rain tonight and into tomorrow.

I did get my new portable drive hooked up so waiting for the backup to finish.

All search parties cancelled. :)

I'm almost sure that I prefer this never ending rain to sleet or snow you guys might be seeing.

Did everyone make it through to the new year without a hangover?

No hangover. Just wine with dinner, and an extremely potent potable mix of various spirits near midnight.

We'll be getting hit by that huge area of precip that originated in the Gulf. You are right in that it'll be a mix of snow and freezing rain by the time it gets here.

I'm a member of a few golf groups on FB. Envious of those playing down south. Envious of playing, but not of the Covid.

Just a couple glasses of wine here while watching 2 old VCR movies. Yes, you can still hook up your VCR player to a flat screen TV. :D

We are in for a week of rain so probably a good time to clean out the "junk" room that hasn't been set up since we moved.

Been puttering this am getting this new computer visible on the network. Got the tablet hooked up via USB cable visible and to stop disconnecting (so far).

When i used to visit my grandmother, we often watched old Danish VHS movies, that is one of the good things i remember her for. My uncle often had a flee market in a space just outside my grandmothers apartment, and whenever he got his fingers on a VCR it was saved incase my grandmothers VCR broke down. If the movie has a good story, HD is really not that important :)

But, isn't the picture a little 'under quality' '?

Admittedly some things might be worth it.

Ya the quality wasn't perfect. Guess I could have fiddled with the TV settings so it wasn't full screen but I didn't.

We are in for a blustery and really wet day tomorrow.

Tape was never that high of a quality. I am actually surprised every time I watch something really old, that I watched on broadcast OTA as a child, at how much sharper the image is now. I almost always watch stuff at its native resolution as that is how my TIVO is set to do it. Death Valley Days is one good example. I don't much care for the stretched look.

We are in a moderate weather spell. It sure is going to seem nasty when it hits. Weather bound or Covid bound, I'm still under house arrest either way. :)

Speaking of "tapes", I've got a dozen or so small video camera tapes of the kids when young, to somehow convert to digital at some point. I can't remember the size and format of those tapes, but they're in a box somewhere and I have to get to them at some point. There are also some VHS tapes kicking around of the young'uns too. I've been dragging my feet on this task to convert them, but I should have more time this year to do the nagging little things I've been meaning to do for a while now. It would be prudent to make a list of things I need to do. It'll be a long, somewhat discouraging list. My BILs wife makes lists of things for him to do. I don't think I could live a day in that world.

You might be able to DIY but sending them to a pro lab will sure be a lot easier. I still have some 8mm reels I would like to do.

I've been making my own lists and they are killing me.

I spent the last 2 days cleaning up the mess behind, under and around my computer desk. Something died I added new without cleaning up the cables and wall warts. The cables were a bowl of spaghetti. Almost done. Just need to find a tri-tap in the basement so one wall wart can set over one of the older PS cubes and then vacuum up the sawdust from cable routing.
