With cars parked inside our garage, we (and pretty much all the newer homes around here too) have about two feet between front bumper and the back wall. In that space, I've got a few hanging bikes, and some other junk. I've had to install two large mezzanine-style shelves to store things. It made me a bit nervous since they hang over the cars, but they're into studs, with chains and there isn't much heavy stuff up there.

When parking two cars in the garage (which is almost all the time) there is about 2.5-3 feet separation and we have to carefully open doors when exiting the vehicles.

When I walk around town, I marvel at the older, but well kept homes, which are on wider lots, with garages at least 4-5 feet wider than our newer style homes around here. I just shake my head in jealousy. :(

I even paid extra for 2 feet more each way on the garage size and then lost 3 feet of width to the garage basement steps so the width is always tight if DW fails to park straight, which is often. She wanted the side entry, the least she should do is be consistent with the parking. I guess she is consistent just not accurate. :)

The only place I can store the rider is between my front bumper and the wall. That leaves a foot in the front and about 2 in the back. I can add 1 of those to my current length but not any more.

I also have those two steps up into the entrance of the house on the back, right area of the garage, so thats the side where the Civic is parked. My car is a larger sedan, wider and longer too - but not by a lot, so i park on the left side. Its tight in there, not to mention it being a pain to take out garbage and recycle bins.

Projects for today:
  1. Spray paint hanging plant bracket so we can hang hummingbird feeder
  2. Spray paint a planter that colour has faded
  3. Spray paint full length mirror to recycle it in the bedroom
  4. Get files moved to new filing cabinet
  5. Get tape goop off filing cabinets
  6. Take recyclables and papers to community recycle center
  7. Kitten sit - the older one isn't doing a good job, he's just watching them terrorize the place
Sunny but windy and cool here this am. Hopefully the wind dies down so outdoor projects can get done. :)

If you got all that done today I owe you a brew.

A list like that would be my projects for the week. :)

  • Picked up more topsoil than needed.
  • Cut out some of the grass make garden bigger for plants that have grown a lot.
  • Transplanted 4 or 5 Day Lilly plants, moved some peony plants to sunnier locations
  • Cut and trimmed the grass.
  • Pulled up a large amount of soaker hose that's not going to be used any more.
  • Cleaned out (at least somewhat) the area beside and behind the shed in the corner of the yard.
Discovered how tiring this sort of stuff is.

It can cause sleep to feel better and for me sometimes it takes a day to recover.

Woke up to a heavy prolonged rain this morning. It was more like what I was expecting from Laura than what we got on Saturday. Guess I need to get out as soon as possible to pick ripe tomatoes before they split.

Feeling pretty good today, even after all the gardening yesterday. I just might play a round this morning, but continue walking it, rather than taking a cart. Playing a round with DW tomorrow as well. I've played 3 days in a row once recently, with not much issue after that, so fingers crossed!

Plumber came in yesterday to install a direct water line for the Irrigation system. Next, the utilities people come by to paint lines on the lawn where gas/water/hydro lines are.
