Gently, of course. They make the weirdest sound when approached. I came across one by accident recently and what a chippy sound it made.

The little buggers can chatter quite loudly when excited.
They are cute, no doubt about it.

Re: Passing the Time at Home
They have a path that they take from point A, to wherever they're going, and that path in the back, includes cutting across the stone patio - regardless if anyone is out there or not. They also cut across the front porch - again, regardless if anyone is out there or not. So, as long as you don't say anything, or move, they'll scurry across in front of you on their way to, well, wherever they're going.
I think there's a chipmunk scurry at the back of my yard behind the shed. Behind the shed is the forest, so I'm sure they forage around in there now and then. It would be safer on our property, but hey, who knows what a chipmunk is thinking.

There's a country song in there somewhere, "The chipmunk scurry".

Re: Passing the Time at Home
Should I do the morning walk with DW before the oppressive heat sets in, or should I go golfing?
Or, should I walk this morning, then golf during the oppressive heat?
If I walk early this morning, I'll be in the good books. If I instead decide to golf this morning before it gets too hot, I'll be in the neutral books.
Oh, I forgot - at some point today, I will still have to power wash the front porch and back patio stone retaining wall, which in any scenario, looks like it's during the oppressive heat.
So many decisions.
So many possible outcomes.
Sheesh!

Walk DW out to the porch, give her the pressure washer, go golf and you have done it all. Don't forget to pack an overnight bag.

Re: Passing the Time at Home
No golf. Too hot.
No power washing. Too hot.
Only ice cream and seat at the window watching the inpatients in the backyard planter begin to wilt.
Did get the gumption to start calling up irrigation installation companies as the guy down the street had had enough and had at least some sort of a system installed today.

Re: Passing the Time at Home
Boy everyone has been quite this week. Y'all end up in the dog house?
Plants starting to finish. Guess will be out early tomorrow pruning...
Grass watering day tomorrow. Not going to rain for a change on watering day and my sprinkler is broken! Need to duct tape it.
