Local people on FB threads complaining about their water bills. And yes, there are a ton of threads on this topic.

It seems a while back, the municipality took the "sewer" costs off the property tax bill, and then stuck it on the water bill. Now, we pay for water into the house (general usage), and water out (flush toilets, showers, laundry, water softeners etc). The water out, is actually called a "Sewer" fee.

Just for comparison sake, the "water out" sewer fee is about 1.3 times the actual water use charge.

So, why should anyone pay for full "sewer costs", or "water out" costs, when a good portion of water use in the summer, is for watering the flowers or lawn. Or, for that matter, if some pool owners fill or top up their pools, their bill could be huge - both water usage (which is understandable) and even more cost than the water used - the sewer costs, which isn't understandable.

Further comparison: when I first moved here, the yearly water bill was $50. Now, at least in the summer, it's roughly 10 times that amount - for at least two of the 4 quarterly billing cycles!!!

It's true all over. Local governments, at least here, are charging user fees which are exempt form max tax rules that are in place to protect us.

At least here they only charge the summer sewer portion as an average of the the other bills because of watering.

I sure hope my pressure wahing gets counted on a summer bill.

Here, we're being charged by the drop.

Heating and electrical bills are a bit different. One can opt for equal billing, or actual billing.

We do the gas on the equal pay deal, budget plan, and for some reason we don't do the elec that way. I still recall the good old days; gas monthly, elec every other month, and water 4 times a year. Now the water bill is more monthly than it was quarterly.

Then if I am honest I worked a lot harder for a $ then than I do now.

About the only government service that I make out on it the public library. I'm not sure I could afford my reading habit if I did not check out digital books from the library. If you guys like to read you ought to check it out. A large portion of the fiction may be borrowed for free without ever leaving your home and the kindle app is available for almost every device.

This whole thing has got my attention. Shower? x..m3 Dishwasher x..m3. Water lawn x..m3 Bla, bla, bla.

If My current use holds out for the remaining 45 days, it'll cost me about $1400.

Checked the meter last night after all went to bed - took a picture. Checked again this morning - took another picture. This evidence I need when speaking to the town.

Results: The little spinny thing barely moved - maybe 1/12 of a revolution or less. Don't know what would have caused that small amount of water displacement, but it was so small it's not the culprit of costing so much last cycle. Sheesh!

I think it's the lawn watering. Trying to save the lawn from going dormant, so it isn't stressed and becomes susceptible to pests like chinch bugs, grubs etc. Trying to get rid of those pests is difficult up here. There aren't any good products to get rid of them. The US still has some good products, but we don't. :(

That big hand, or little triangle, will move some with a single hand-washing or toilet flush. Think of it as second hand on a analog clock.

Unless your water company has gone to all digital or numeric readings it is not uncommon for a rounding error to occur in either direction when the meter is read. It self corrects next reading. Of course the tax man does not correct anything. :)

Read all the dials or numbers before you next water and then after.

It's still analogue.

The hand portion of that one is completely different from what we have here. Suggest you compare that to your bill to what numbers match up. Even so I bet thet red hand moves with very little usage.

That little dial is supposed to react to even the smallest of leaks.

Went out to the course today with one of my youngins . Made mods to my driving swing that I recall worked several years ago. Not much in the mechanics, but more in a different ball placement. I liked the results and hit more fairways than previously. I will ensure I work on it more diligently!

Now - on to the real issue. Losing strokes on or near the green. I honestly lose at least 8 strokes per game with dumb-a$$ stupid mistakes. Chunks. Blades. Over-hits. Under hits.

Here I've got this great practice facility - full practice/driving range. A 100 yard (and in) practice hole. A chipping green with sand traps, and yes, a very nice practice putting green. But - all I do is go to the long range, hit about 20 shots (mixed driver and 9 iron), then head to the tees to start the round.

I am my own worst enemy!
