Electoral College Affirms Biden's Win
For those of you who are not an American, it should be stated that we do not select our President by the popular vote, but instead states choose electors who in turn elect the President. These delegates are collectively known as the Electoral College and the amount of representation a state gets is based on a state's House and Senate Representation. This has caused controversy, especially in recent years when there were Presidents who managed to gain a majority of the electoral votes while losing the popular vote, due to how the system is set up. I don't like this system myself, but it is what it is for the time being.
Regardless, Joe Biden won both the projected electoral and popular votes. After numerous attempts by Trump to get mail-in ballots thrown out and even attempts to get electors replaced to get the electoral college to appoint him instead, the attempts all failed, and the electors have just formalized Biden's win. Hopefully that will get more people to recognize him as the rightful President-elect, though it's probably premature to get my hopes up. Regardless, I think it further shows that the election is settled.
What does everyone else think of this?

Elections can get crazy. Didn't "W" stop the Florida vote recount back in 2000 (while it was in motion), and as a result, won the election, by maybe 500 votes?
This US election, is very unique - Biden got to make an estimated 30 acceptance speeches.
I don't know a lot about US politics, in fact, my son keeps me in the know as much as possible, but I've been watching fairly closely over the last 4 years. Here's what I know, or am seeing as things play out - DJT is acting like a spoiled child trying anything and everything (regardless of how far from reality it is) to keep himself in the news, until the bitter end.
So, ya, in the end, he leaves. He has to. But, between now and then, he'll probably leave with hundreds of millions of $$ some party of his has raised, to do with what he pleases. If I've missed something on the last point, please, anyone chime in.

You're pretty much spot on. The lawsuits are a sneaky way for him to make money too as some goes to his campaign to pay off debts. This type of scam is classic Trump, as he is and always been a scam artist and snake oil salesman. He loves to be famous. With that being said, I actually do think he wants to be a dictator though, and actually seeks to end democracy here in America, and much of the party it seems is behind him. He is a con man, yes, but he is a genuine wannabe dictator who seeks to end over a century of democratic tradition here.
Our democracy is far from perfect, but it beats dictatorship.

He's got at least 6 lawsuits against him, his holdings, his businesses etc, to deal with once leaving office. Fingers crossed one or more of those suits take him to the cleaners. I'm thinking the "orange menace" would look nice in an orange jump suit.

Agreed. Unfortunately he has supporters who would think that he was a victim and political prisoner of the deep state. I'm for him being persecuted, but we also need to be prepared for the upcoming domestic terror threat that's emerging as well.

There were plots to kidnap sitting governors, try them before kangaroo courts, and kill them. There were also threats made to those counting votes during our election, and even threats made to electors in the electoral college.LMD wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 9:12 pmWhat exactly is the threat you are referring to?Random American wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 9:02 pm ...we also need to be prepared for the upcoming domestic terror threat that's emerging as well.

Re: Electoral College Affirms Biden's Win
Wisconsin just tossed another Trump lawsuit. Man, his supporters just don't get it. Tens of millions of Trump supporters and various state legislatures still back this guy according to NPR. Anyone here think that Trump might just outright not step down? If Trump thinks he's going down, he might well try something like that, and I do not trust that would just result in a swift removal and arrest. He has some state governments behind him after all and a large group of follows.

Indeed. Hey, if things go south, would you guys be open to accepting U.S. Citizen refugees into Canada?
