No i never asked her about her recipes, probably because i don't make so much fancy food to my self.
Colbyt wrote: Thu Jul 23, 2020 6:54 pm I used recipe 1 and followed it pretty closely and we both thought it turned out great. I even added the nutmeg which I typically omit as I don't like it. I will update this thread or post a new one regarding 1 or 2 small changes I made.

I will go ahead and say now that 3 TBS of flour to a cup of cream is way to much. I had to cut it with milk to thin it down. As we ate some with gravy and some without I will even go so far as to say just make your standard milk gravy + the beef stock (for me that is 50/50 water and milk) as the sauce. The cream adds a lot of calories and cost to what could be an inexpensive great dish.

DW ate some of the cold, sauce-less patties for breakfast and certified them as still good. I will taste one later and share my opinion.
Sound like it could have been worse :)

Last night we had, I made, the most decadent carrot cake I have ever eaten. Nothing healthy about it. There was no milk or water just oil, eggs and crushed pineapple for moisture.

Haven't had carrot cake in ages. Is the recipe online somewhere?

Mom brought a Chocolate Zucchini loaf over yesterday.

My contribution of something different for today: Homemade Mango Salsa. One of our Filipino friends' wives makes something like this when there is a get together (sans Jalapeño).

Something else I just saw: Parmesan Roasted Spaghetti Squash Easy Recipe

It is right here. Warning you need a deep 9 inch pan. I wound up making a big one and a little one from a single batch size. Did not have corn oil used soybean oil. Cheated and used a canned cream cheese icing. I can't make it for the same $.

Cool with a lot of rain today, so baked ziti is on the menu for tonight. Two casseroles, one for tonight, and one to freeze for another night.

Here's one recipe: https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/baked_ziti/

Some use various other meats, and seasoning, but we just use ground beef and basic seasoning like salt pepper etc. If you like it with a little "heat", add some crushed chili peppers or cayenne.

That sounds good. How did it turn out?

The name of this recipe reminded me of the old movie Fried Green Tomatoes. This must be a Southern dish: Fried Green Tomato BLT Sandwich

It was great as always. Some leftovers for lunch the next day as one of the "u-packs" wasn't home for din.

Make enough for two or three meals, and freeze two for an easily ready din anytime.

Please allow me to live up to the thread title, DW actually she thought of it. Wanted hot dogs for dinner, had no buns so she said don't we have some of those sub buns left that you bought for the hot ham and cheese?

2 dogs and fixins' fit real nice on a a 6" sub bun. Double dog delicious.
