Colbyt i think you're right we should continue the regular program...

I have a small acid aquarium that i use to remove copper from PCBs, currently i am working on adding a bigger engine to the air pump. The copper removal process is much faster when the acid is heated up a bit and there is movement/bubbles in the acid.

You used a term I can not define, cobber. What is it? I suspect it is the solder or perhaps the printed part of the board.

The best air pump I've ever owned I bought on Amazon (for the pond).

It's probably copper, yes the printed part of the board.

I bought the acid aquarium on eBay with a heater and the air pump and it has worked fine for some years, but lately the air flow in the hose has not been working very well. Anyway with the new engine it works again but there is way more bubbles now than before. Maybe i should set the voltage to the engine down a bit.

I don't know what you have but for my pump it is best to regulate the air flow with a restriction on the output end. A simple air hose valve partially closed. In my experiences it is always best to restrict the flow of any pump on the output side.

Do you recycle the copper? Around here copper pays about 2.00 USD per pound and while worth saving to recycle I can't imagine spending any great effort at collection.

I had some issues with the air hose, if the small holes the air comes out of are to small they will block the air, if they are to big, the acid would get in to the air hose. So now that i have found the good middle way i would prefer not to do to many changes on the air hose

No i don't recycle the copper, i think it's desolwing in the acid, so i would not even know how to filter the copper out of the acid.

No i don't recycle the copper, i think it's desolwing in the acid, so i would not even know how to filter the copper out of the acid.

I'm just being curious. Then why do you do it? Do you reuse the boards.

People do use an acid treatment to take the trace amounts of gold off the old and server boards. Then use a another chemical to separate the gold from the acid. All of which sounds like a lot of somewhat dangerous work for a few $.

It's when i create a PCB. First i create a PCB layout and diagram with Eagle, then i print it out on my lazer printer, heat the PCB layout to the PCB, then i put it in the acid aquarium so the excess copper is removed, then i drill holes for components...
