In Canada we have the Retail Council of Canada where it's members are supposed to honour the Council's Scanner Price Accuracy Code which the customer can ask for a correction as follows:

On a claim being presented by the customer, where the scanned price of a product at checkout is higher than the price displayed in the store or than advertised by the store, the lower price will be honoured; and

(a) if the correct price of the product is $10 or less, the retailer will give the product to the customer free of charge; or
(b) if the correct price of the product is higher than $10, the retailer will give the customer a discount of $10 off the correct price.

I got a little table for camping for $1 because of this once without asking.

Do other countries have this type of code for their member companies? If so, please post the url below so members in that country can see the policy.

Have you every tested this online? I have noticed when online window shopping different prices were posted for a product depending on how you ended up at the product page. Once the product page lowest price and checkout had different prices.
